Matthias is a Michigan photographer, based in the city of Grand Rapids, whose focus lies in capturing dramatized portraiture using both a striking assortment of colors and an arrangement of subject matter loaded with gusto.
Approaching the end of his pursuit of a bachelors in fine arts at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, Matthias has become well versed in both analog and digital media.
He aims to inspire others to explore and exercise their creative thoughts, to be whimsical, and to be kind.
Artist Statement
As an artist I believe there’s only one person you should be trying to impress, and thats yourself. Our culture has become obsessed with the notion that to be successful is to be popular or famous, when in reality these should be byproducts of perusing skill.
Through my work, I intend to inspire others to take risks, and to be brave in creation. there is an individuality that lies in all of us that can be expressed through our art, and in that we can find connection and joy.
